Project
2000 is a Charitable Trust registered in Jersey under the 1862 Law
Mission
Statement:- 'Project 2000 is the business charity that
aims to present vulnerable youngsters with the
sort of challenges that will draw them back into the mainstream of Island
life.'
History:-
Project 2000 was founded in 1997 by Mickey Timms. In previous years
he had successfully
demonstrated that, when youngsters fell foul of the law, the most cost-effective
way for society to
rehabilitate them was, not to punish them, but to introduce them to some
of life's real challenges.
First, he organized military style role-playing days; next came paint ball
battles. The Junior Rowing
Foundation was established soon after at La Colette, and then the Junior
Golf Foundation at Les
Mielles. Next on the stocks, we hope, will be a sailing foundation
and an opportunity to train with
'Jubilee 2000' on Tall Ships. In the longer term, Project 2000 is
pushing for the establishment in
Jersey of such hardware facilities as a 'Ropes' course, a nylon Ski Slope,
a 6-Flume diving pool
and an Ice Rink.

Current Projects: The
Bollinger Office Putting Championship 2000
The finals take place on Saturday 25th November 2000 at Jersey Airport
over a course specially
designed by architect Derek Mason. This annual event is sponsored
jointly by Champagne Bollinger
and Jersey Airport. 1999 Champion of Champions was David
McCrea of ABACUS - he won a
weekend for two, Bollinger Style, in the champagne region of France (plus
a Jeraboam of Bollinger).
Again, in 2000, the two runners-up will receive a Magnum, and every office
champion will win a bottle
of 'bolli', as will the most successful Green Keeper. Office 'Prelims'
have just started, and winners
as they come in, will be published on the website. Green Keepers
may obtain Rules/Entry
Forms by faxing or e-mailing the Administrator PROJECT 2000 requesting
'BOLLAIRENTRY'.
Minimum green fees are £10; we hope firms will feel inclined
to top up their players' contributions.
Will you help Jersey's Youth fight back?
Every penny raised from this event will go
toward helping the kids of today face the uncertainties of tomorrow.
